It was about six months after we moved to Colorado that one night my husband, the kids and I reminisced about how much we missed the Jersey Shore and all the boardwalk treats that we enjoyed when we lived there. We remembered the sound of laughter, the smell of pizza, fudge, salt water taffy and cotton candy, the thrill of the rides ... but mostly, we recalled the thick, creamy frozen custard that was twisted a mile high on a cone that we ate constantly. The taste still lingered in our minds and we wondered if this frozen treat could be found here. Our ice cream adventure was born!
In researching our ice cream idea, we discovered the history of frozen custard began at Coney Island around 1920, when vendors began using egg yolk in their vanilla ice cream to make it extra smooth and creamy. This popular mix, called frozen custard, was enormously popular through the Depression and the War years because it was delicious and inexpensive.
Once we decided to give the business a “swirl”, we went and got a really cool truck and custard that taste great.
Today, you can taste the finest frozen custard in Colorado and it can be brought right to you! No matter what your age or where you’re from, you’ll keep coming back to The Good Stuff. And don’t you deserve The Good Stuff?
